RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – East Central’s Cami Correa (pictured left) and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Katrina Johnson (pictured right) have been named the Great American Conference Softball Players of the Week for their performances during the third week of the 2012 season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
East Central senior catcher/designated player Cami Correa has been named the GAC Softball Player of the Week after going 8-for-10 in a 2-1 week for the Lady Tigers. The Brawley, Calif. native collected a weekly total of one runbatted in, four runs scored, two doubles and one homerun. She had a weekly slugging percentage of 1.300, and with the addition of three walks, she had an .846 weekly on base percentage. Correa opened the week with a 3-for-4 outing in an 11-5 win in the first end of a double-header against Chadron State this past Saturday. She had a double and a solo homerun in that game, her first round-tripper of the season. In the second game of the double-header, Correa went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double and two walks in a 13-10 loss. In ECU’s third game of the day, Correa was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored and one walk in a 13-7 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State. All three games were played in Goodwell, Okla.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Southwestern Oklahoma State junior Katrina Johnson has been named the GAC Softball Pitcher of the Week after coming out of the bullpen to pick up a win in a 4-3 victory over William Jewell College this past Friday at home. The Levelland, Texas native tossed the final 6.1 innings of the contest and did not allow a run on four hits, while striking out five and walking none. She held her opponents to a .184 batting average.
