RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. –
Four baseball student-athletes from the Great American Conference have landed spots on the Daktronics and/or National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association All-Region squads for the 2012 season.
 
The NCBWA honors, announced this past Tuesday, include first team honoree Landon Sullins, a senior catcher from Arkansas Tech. The NCBWA also honored ATU junior first baseman Jonathan Finnegan as well as Southern Arkansas junior third basemanBrady Capshaw and senior outfielder Jason Dahl (pictured) on the second team.
 
In addition to their honors from the NCBWA, Sullins, Finnegan and Dahl all earned a spot on the Daktronics All-South Central Region Second Team.

All four players were selected to the inaugural All-Great American Conference First Team. Finnegan was voted the league’s first ever player of the year after leading the conference in batting average (.398), slugging percentage (.739), home runs (12) and total bases (130). He also ranked in the top five in the GAC in five other offensive categories.

Sullins led the GAC this season it total hits with 73, while also ranking among the league leaders in runs scored (51-2nd), triples (4-2nd) and total bases(101-3rd).

Dahl and Capshaw, both selected to the GAC Championship All-Tournament Team, led the Muleriders to the league’s inaugural regular season and championship tournament titles. Dahl hit .385 during the regular season with 69 hits, 13doubles, two triples, two homeruns and 32 runs batted in. Dahl was efficient on the base paths throughout the year, only getting caught stealing on one of 14 attempts. Capshaw trailed closely with a .370 batting average with 60 hits, 11 doubles, two homeruns and 45 RBI.
