RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Harding’s Trent Wooldridge and Southern Arkansas’ Timothy Buchanan produced dominant individual efforts to win the Great American Conference’s Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the 12th week of the 2014 season, the conference office announced on Monday.
GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Trent Wooldridge, Harding, CF, Sr., Paragould, Ark.
Wooldridge turned in a virtuoso performance from the leadoff position. He hit an incredible .823 (14-for-17) as the Bisons went 3-1. He recorded his first four-hit game of 2014 in a 13-3 win against No. 25 Arkansas-Monticello on Wednesday. Against Ouachita Baptist, he set the GAC single-game record with a 6-for-6 performance in Saturday’s first game.
GAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Timothy Buchanan, Southern Arkansas, LHP, So., Texarkana, Ark.
Buchanan he threw the fifth no-hitter in SAU history, a 12-0 win against Southern Nazarene. He struck out at least two batters in five of the seven innings. In the final frame, Buchanan carved his way through three pinch-hitters with strikeouts to end the game with 12 strikeouts, and tie his career-high. Timothy's identical twin brother, Justin, caught the game.
