RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the third week of the 2015 baseball season. Ouachita Baptist’s Reuben Miller claimed the Player of the Week accolade and East Central’s Cam McKay garnered the Pitcher of the Week award.
GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Reuben Miller, Ouachita Baptist, 3B, Jr., Kyle, Texas
Miller helped lead the Tigers to a series sweep of defending regular-season champion Arkansas Tech as he collected eight hits in 10 at bats. He opened with a 4-for-4 game and collected multi-hit games in both ends of Saturday’s doubleheader. After hitting .200 in OBU’s opening seven games, Miller raised his average to .371 following the series.
GAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Cam McKay, East Central, RHP, Sr., Acron, California
McKay locked down a series sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma State as he tossed seven scoreless innings in the finale against the Bulldogs. He struck out three and allowed only five base runners in earning the first shutout of his career. The Tigers completed their first road three-game sweep of a conference opponent since joining the GAC.
