2011 GAC WOMEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT HOME PAGE

ADA, Okla. –
After scoreless regulation and overtime periods, East Central defeated Ouachita Baptist 3-1 in penaltykicks to capture the inaugural Great American Conference Women’s Soccer Championship on Sunday at Lady Tiger Field.

ECU (12-6-1), the conference’s regular season champ as well, recordedsuccessful penalty kicks from Laura McNab, Rachel Hudgins and Carla Rodriguez to capture the victory. Morgan Pitchford made the first penalty kick for OBU (8-10), but her team’s next three shootout participants were unsuccessful in their attempts, setting up Rodriguez’ game-winner.

ECU controlled the final shot total with 16 to OBU’s eight. ECU’s Adrianna Phininzy played the full 110 minutes in the net and registered four saves, while OBU’s Whitley Hoppe also went the distance and recorded seven saves

East Central led the league in all-tournament team selections with five, including most valuable player Whitey Watts. OBU earned three all-tournament selections, while Harding and Southwestern Oklahoma State each received twohonorees.
